  • This is Your Season

On August 8th, a Coffee with Sophie event was held in Addis Ababa entitled "Your Season." As ususal, this Coffee with Sophie featured great coffee, fellowship and an inspiring guest speaker. The featured guest, Emama Genet, shared how at the age of 63 she received and fulfilled a vision from God to build a school. Sophia Mengistu and Emama Genet challenged all who attended to get rid of all hindrances and accomplish what God has for us in this season.

  • The 2009 Beza Womens Conference Report

The 2009 Beza Women's Conference held in Denver, Colorado last month was a resounding success. Women attended from over 20 U.S. states and Canadian provinces. The conference was held from April 24th to 26th, and offered over 17 hours of worship, prayer, bible teaching and discussion sessions during the course of the weekend.

The conference kicked off on Thursday evening with the Coffee with Sophie event where Sophia Mengistu interviewed guests discussing finding God’s joy in in the least likely places, and a story of Ethiopians adopting Ethiopian children. Friday and Saturday were full days, packed with morning, afternoon and evening sessions. The teaching sessions focused on subjects such as paying attention to the small things in life and experiencing true freedom in Christ. One of the sessions also featured a panel discussion covering the topics of women’s health, marriage & family, and faith. At the concluding Saturday evening session, gifts and awards were given for conference participants and coordinators who went the extra mile to make the conference a success.

The Beza team was particularly touched by the dedication of the local Denver volunteer team who worked tirelessly to get the word out, prepare the meeting venues, coordinate meals and shuttle conference guests to and from the airport. Thank you so much for your hospitality, love, and hunger to see God touch so many women’s lives. See you next year in Miami, Florida!

  • Beza Tabernacle Opening Weekend

Beza Church has officially moved into its new worship facility: The Beza Tabernacle! This auditorium can accommodate significantly more people than our previous location and also features a new sound and lighting system. The Tabernacle was opened during the weekend of January 30th - February 1st. This was one of the most momentous occassions in the three-year history of Beza International Church.

After a three day-long ministry conference featuring guest speakers from three different countries, we held a special groundbreaking ceremony for the future Beza Convention Center on Saturday, January 31st. On Sunday morning, Beza celebrated with a special joint Amharic and English worship service that featured special music performed in several different languages, special prayers of dedication, and a sermon from guest speaker Rev. Rick Seaward.

It was an emotional time for many, as Pastor Zerubbabel Mengistu welcomed the capacity crowd with the words: "Welcome to Beza, welcome to redemption . . . welcome home."

Below are some pictures of the events of the Tabernacle opening weekend:

  • Beza Church Building Project Update

Last year Beza International Church completed the purchase of land for the Beza Convention Center project. This year, we are engaged in the first phase of the project, which involves the construction of a temporary worship facility, known as "The Tabernacle", which is set to be completed in late 2008. The total cost of the project, approximately 3.5 million Ethiopian Birr, the majority of which has been raised through fundraising events held in July and October 2008 in Addis Ababa. The Tabernacle will feature a worship auditorium seating over 2000 people, and will also include rooms for Sunday School classes.

Below are some architectural renderings of of what the completed Tabernacle project will look like:
