ABOUT BEZA

Beza International Ministries is a multi-faceted Christian organization founded by Dr. Betta and Sophia Mengistu. The organization is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and conducts ministry activities in Ethiopia and around the world.

Our mission statement is “Empowering People With the Word of God to Reach Their Destiny”.We are committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ by sharing the truth of God’s Word - through biblical discipleship and leadership development activities - and the compassion of God’s heart - through humanitarian outreach. Through these efforts, our ministry seeks to see individuals, communities and society at large positively transformed.

Beza International Ministries is registered as a non-profit organization in Ethiopia and we are represented internationally by The Beza Fund, based in South Carolina, USA. Our offices are located on the 5th floor of TK International Building on Bole Road, in Addis Ababa.


OUR MINISTRIES

Beza International Church 

Beza International Church is a nondenominational Christian fellowship located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Founded in January 2006, the church has since grown into a vibrant congregation of worshipers from over 30 different nations. Beza International Church is pastored by Zerubbabel Mengistu, Betta and Sophia Mengistu’s oldest son. Weekly services are held in both English and Amharic.

Beza Church, Nairobi 

Beza Church, Nairobi, (formerly called Emmanuel Church) was established in 1990 in the city of Nairobi, Kenya. The church primarily serves the city’s Ethiopian and Eritrean refugee communities, and is now a thriving congregation attending weekly services in three locations. Because of the transient nature of the refugee community, hundreds of former members of this church are now serving the Lord across the globe.

Beza International 

Beza International is the global teaching and media ministry of Betta and Sophia Mengistu. Every year Betta and Sophia travel the globe, speaking at churches, conferences and training events in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. Beza International also hosts ministry conferences in various countries and produces ministry media materials for international distribution.

Beza Community Development Association 

Beza Community Development Association is an independently registered nongovernmental organization in Addis Ababa that seeks to empower the needy through compassionate assistance. Primarily focused on economic empowerment, healthcare, and children's outreach, Beza Community Development Association seeks to develop innovative solutions to the social and economic problems associated with poverty and disease in Ethiopia.

The Beza Leadership Center

The Beza Leadership Center is a ministry that is focused on equipping African church and civic leaders with biblical training that will enable them to have a transformative impact on their nations. The Center hosts various training and ministry events throughout the year, targeting the business, legal and diplomatic communities in Addis Ababa.

Beza Ministerial Fellowship 

The Beza Ministerial Fellowship is a network that provides fellowship, accountability and training opportunities for individuals engaged in full-time ministry. Operating under the covering of Beza International Church, Beza Ministerial Fellowship seeks to be a resource to ministers serving around the world.


ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

Dr. Betta Mengistu was formerly the Executive Director of International Bible Society - Africa, where he oversaw the translation of scriptures into over thirty major African languages. He has received master's degrees from Gordon-Conwell Seminary and Wheaton College, as well as a doctorate from Northern Illinois University. He serves on the boards of several international organizations, including David Yonggi Cho’s Church Growth International in Korea.

Sophia Mengistu formerly served as the chair-woman of the Pan-African Christian Women’s Alliance (PACWA) and as the leader of Emmanuel Church in Kenya (now Beza Church, Nairobi) for over 15 years.
